"The universe is not only stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine."

- Sir Arthur Eddington
IN JIM'S WORDS...

When I retired to the woods, I wanted to experience a passion similar to those who built Stonehenge - strong enough to inspire me to move mega-ton boulders halfway across England. That is to say, I retired with an agenda. “Okay God, it’s you and me. No structures No restrictions. No theology. No holds barred. Twenty-four hours a day. You are my only passion. You say you like a challenge? Bring it on!” Like Jacob of old who wrestled with God, I had one prayer on my lips: “I will not let you go until you bless me!”

Imagine my surprise when, in a totally unexpected way, God answered and did just that!

Author, historian, theologian, musician, and friend, Jim Willis departed this world on Friday, June 7th, 2024, returning to what he has always called The Source.

Robert Kalil, host of Typical Skeptic,  once said that Jim "mastered the esoteric and spiritual principles and lived the life." He has been called an inspiration by many trying to find their own path to a greater and broader grasp and perception of their own sense of spirituality.

Rest in peace, Jim Willis.

We will see you in the flight of the butterfly.

A FINAL QUOTE

"History sings two siren songs. The first is a simple and direct melody, sung in a major key that appeals to those who want their music straight forward and direct. It features tonic and dominant harmonies that revolve around the questions "when?", "who?", "where?", and "how?" The second is much more complicated, often disturbing, and usually sung in a minor key. It dances around one question, "why?", and seems fiendishly designed to remain in the background, a sotto voce counterpoint motif to the clarion call of the composition called Life.

To hear the song of Purpose might be our ultimate existential goal. It underlies everything we are and do, and its music forms the soundtrack of our life on earth.

Purpose gives us a reason to get up in the morning and go to work. It sustains us through life's valleys of depression and discouragement. Purpose allows us to continue on in the midst of adversity and setback. It is more than a song. It is a symphony whose themes stitch together both the melodies and harmonies of our lives.

Whether you consider your worldview to be sacred or secular, religious or humanist; whether you eagerly await the newest scientific discovery or spend your days dreading the next disclosure that might undermine your faith, you share something with every other human being on earth. You are alive. Vibrantly alive. Mysteriously alive. You live and breathe and swim in an ocean of spirituality.

You are in unity with the Cosmos. The universe is profoundly one."
